Alerts Notification in Oracle Prime

In today’s world of competition, the project managers have to handle multiple projects simultaneously, hence it’s very difficult for them to keep the focus on each project closely. Being a smart project management tool, Oracle Prime provides you an “Early Warning Mechanism” to timely control the Potential Issue before it impacts your project delivery.

In this post, we will walk through the Alert functionality of Oracle Prime and will see how to establish an “Early Warning Mechanism” via Oracle Prime Alert Functionality.

Oracle Prime has Alerts feature, which provides you the flexibility to create own custom system and email notifications to timely alert project team whenever a predefined condition met.

For this post, let take an example. Suppose that you want to create an alert that sends you both a system notification and email notification when a project Approved Budget exceeds $10,00,000.

Early Warning Mechanism (Alert) setup process can be divided into three phases.

1) Create an Alert
2) Define a Threshold parameter (Condition for triggering alert)
3) Set an Alert Delivery channel (Method of notifying user)

1. Create an Alert: You can create alerts to send a system or email notification whenever a specific predefined condition is met.

To add an alert in the application:
1) Navigate to the project which you want to set alter notification.
2) In the sidebar, select Summary & Settings

3) Select Alerts.
3) On the Alerts page, select Add.

4) In the Select Project Field dialog box, select a “Project-level field under Activity, Project, Scope Assignment, or Work Package, and then select Select.

5) Select the field (Triggering element) for which you want to set an alert notification. In our example “Approved Budget”

6) Save and close.

2. Define Threshold parameters to an Alert:  Add alerts condition to define when notifications should be sent.

To add a threshold to an alert:
1) Select a project for which you want to set alter notification.
2) In the sidebar, select Summary & Settings and select Alerts.

3) In the Threshold and Alerts settings pane, under the Threshold section, configure the Operator and Value fields.
In our example:
– In the Operator list, select “greater than”.

   – In the Value field, enter $10,00,000.
4) Save and close.

3. Set an Alert Delivery OptionNow, you have to assign users to whom alerts should be sent and specify the channel of delivery of the message. Here you also type a custom message to describe the purpose of altering. When a predefined condition is met, one alert will be sent.

To add a threshold to an alert:

1) Navigate to the project for which you want to set alter notification.
2) In the sidebar, select Summary & Settings and select Alerts.

3) In the Threshold and Alerts settings pane, under the Alerts section, select “Assign” and then select User/Group to whom notification should be sent.

4) Enter the username/group name into the Search field and Select the name.
5) In the name row, select what type of message (System alter or Email) should be sent from the following options:

6) Enter a useful message that will be sent to the selected users

8) Save and close.

Done. Now Whenever the project “Approved Budget” exceed the amount $10,00,000, an application will trigger a system alter & an email notification to the assigned user.

So this is how you can create an Alert in Oracle Prime.
